Tianjin Exported Household Appliances Less YOY in Jan-Aug 2017

According to Tianjin Customs statistics, from January to August this year, Tianjin Municipality exported household electric appliances (including electric fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, DVD players, washing machines, microwave ovens, color TV sets, digital cameras) totaling 11.6 million sets, less by 2% year-on-year (YOY); worth RMB 4.01 billion yuan, down 6.2% YOY; average export price at 345.3 yuan per set, down 4.3% YOY.

Export Characteristics:

(1) August value rebounded from July.

Tianjin export of household appliances dropped monthly in value since this March, but rebounded this August to 390 million yuan, down 3.1% YOY while up 21.2% from this July.

(2) Export mainly by processing trade.

In January-August, the export value reached 3.49 billion yuan by processing trade mode, down 10.2%, accounting for 87% of the total export.

(3) Export mainly by foreign-invested enterprises.

In January-August, Tianjin-based foreign-invested enterprises exported household appliances worth 3.76 billion yuan, down 7.5%, accounting for 93.8% of the total export.

(4) Export mainly to the USA, Mexico and South Korea.

In January-August, the export to the United States reached 1.86 billion yuan, up 17.4%; export to Mexico reached 340 million yuan, down 21.8%; export to South Korea 290 million yuan, up 2.3%; the three together accounted for 62.1% of the total export.
