Guangdong Province-USA Trade Up Fast in Jan-May 2017

According to China Customs statistics, from January to May this year, Guangdong Province trade with USA totaled RMB 322.41 billion yuan, up 16.5% year-on-year (YOY); therein, export to USA reached 272.49 billion yuan, up 18.6%; import from USA reached 49.92 billion yuan, up 6.6%.

Guangdong-USA Trade Characteristics in May:

1. This May, Guangdong-USA trade reached 72.16 billion yuan, up 24.7% YOY and down 2.1% month-on-month (MOM). Therein, export to USA reached 61.29 billion yuan, up 26.3% YOY and down 3.6% MOM; import from USA 10.87 billion yuan, up 16.1% YOY and up 7% MOM.

2. This May, Guangdong-USA ordinary trade reached 35.24 billion yuan, up 37.3% YOY, accounting for 48.8% of the total; processing trade reached 28.97 billion yuan, up 11.1%, accounting for 40.1%; bonded trade 3.94 billion yuan, up 25.9%; tourist purchase-based export 1.36 billion yuan, up 2.5 times YOY.

3. This May, Guangdong’s foreign-invested enterprises had USA trade value 37.49 billion yuan, up 12.1% YOY, accounting for 52% of the total; private enterprises had USA trade 28.47 billion yuan, up 48.9% YOY, accounting for 39.4%; state-owned enterprises had USA trade 5.96 billion yuan, up 21.2% YOY, accounting for 8.3%.

4. This May, Guangdong exported electromechanical products worth 36.13 billion yuan, up 23.6%, accounting for 58.9% of total export; exported traditional labor-intensive products (clothing, furniture, shoes, plastic products, toys, bags, textile yarn) worth 16.74 billion yuan, up 21.5%, accounting for 27.3%.

5. This May, Guangdong imported electromechanical products worth 5.05 billion yuan, up 28.6%, accounting for 46.5% of the total import; imported agricultural products worth 1.18 billion yuan, down 16.3% YOY; aircrafts worth 650 million yuan, up 66.4%; primary plastics worth 610 million yuan.
