Hunan Province-EU Trade Up Steadily in Jan-Aug 2017

According to Changsha Customs statistics, in January-August 2017, Hunan Province trade with the EU totaled CNY 18.18 billion, up 57.1% year-over-year (YOY), including export-to-EU 12.15 billion yuan, up 68.3% and import-from-EU 6.03 billion yuan, up 38.3%.

Hunan-EU trade characteristics in Jan-Aug:

1. August value, a new monthly record, reached 3.54 billion yuan, up 55.1% YOY, including export value 2.5 billion yuan, up 56.1% and import value 1.04 billion yuan, up 52.8%.

2. From January to August, Hunan-EU ordinary trade reached 16.01 billion yuan, up 63.3% YOY, accounting for 88.1% of the total. Additionally, their trade under Customs special control reached 120 million yuan, up 24.6 times YOY.

3. Major Trading Partners: Hunan-Germany trade reached 4.74 billion yuan, up 45% YOY, accounting for 26.1% of the total; Hunan-UK trade reached 2.94 billion yuan, up 81.4% YOY, accounting for 16.2%; Netherlands trade reached 2.08 billion yuan, up 38.8% YOY, accounting for 11.5%; Italy trade reached 1.68 billion yuan, up 66.3% YOY, accounting for 9.3%.

4. Exports: from January to August, Hunan exported fireworks/firecrackers worth 620 million yuan, up 15%, accounting for 5.1% of total export; porcelain tableware worth 520 million yuan, up 38.8%, accounting for 4.3%; shoes worth 290 million yuan, up 1.7 times, accounting for 2.4%.

Imports: Hunan imported infant formulas worth 480 million yuan, up 12.1%, accounting for 7.9% of total import; roller bearings worth 330 million yuan, up 26.1%, accounting for 5.5%; copper ore and concentrate worth 170 million yuan, accounting for 2.8%.
