Chongqing’s Foreign Trade Up 5.4% in Jan-July 2017

According to Chongqing Customs statistics, in January-July 2017, Chongqing Municipality’s foreign trade value totaled RMB 241.58 billion yuan, up 5.4% YOY (year-on-year): therein, export value 156.14 billion yuan, down 2.3%; import value 85.43 billion yuan, up 23.3%.

For July alone, Chongqing’s export-import growth slowed down 8.1 percentage points from June to 37.24 billion yuan, up 10% YOY: therein, export value 24.76 billion yuan, up 17%, and import value 12.48 billion yuan, down 1.7%.

Foreign Trade Characteristics in the first seven months:

Processing trade value reached 110.35 billion yuan, up 30.7%, accounting for 45.7% of Chongqing’s total; ordinary trade reached 102.63 billion yuan, down 7.4%, accounting for 42.5%; Customs-controlled export and import totaled 27.41 billion yuan, down 16.7%, accounting for 11.3%.

Chongqing-USA trade reached 47.12 billion yuan, up 17.8%; EU trade reached 45.31 billion yuan, up 16.3%; South Korea trade 19.38 billion yuan, up 36.9%; Japan trade 12.18 billion yuan, up 31.5%; ASEAN trade 38 billion yuan, down 2.2%.

Chongqing-based foreign-invested enterprises’ foreign trade reached 143.2 billion yuan, up 30.9%, accounting for 59.3%; private enterprises’ reached 64.73 billion yuan, down 30.9%, accounting for 26.8%; state-owned enterprises’ 33.64 billion yuan, up 29%, accounting for 13.9%.

Electro-mechanical products exports totaled 133.94 billion yuan, up 5.6%, and imports totaled 53.4 billion yuan, down 0.4%. Among them, exported portable computers were 26.979 million sets, up 13.1%; exported motorcycles 2,004,000 sets, up 7.2%; integrated circuit imports worth 17.43 billion yuan, down 23.6%; storage component imports worth 10.07 billion yuan, up 89.6%.
