Positive Spirit of GM Daewoo Made 'Happy Christmas'

“When we heard that the event might have to be cancelled due to lack of funding, I found that to be absolutely and totally unacceptable,” said Jay Cooney, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, GM Daewoo. “There are some things to be sacrificed in tough economic times. A Christmas party for orphans is not one of them.” The Corporate Affairs function challenged the foundation and employees to support the event, and their responses were overwhelming.From the employee who donated a full piggy bank with coins, to employees’ children who sent their own money to work with their parents to be donated to the party to the many employees’ spouses who participated in fund-raising every day during lunch hour in the company cafeterias, from small actions, great hope spread throughout GM Daewoo.
