AQSIQ Announcement on Suspending German Pork & Egg Imports

Announcement of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) on Suspension of the Import of Germany-Made Edible Pork and Egg Products

Because part of Germany-made pork, fowl meat and egg products are infected with out-of-limit dioxins, the carcinogenic substances, as confirmed recently by relevant German authority, to prevent external contaminated foodstuff from getting into China, the following matters are hereby announced as per the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, the Administrative Regulations on Risk Alert and Quick Reaction to Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine, and relevant national laws:

1. As from January 11, 2011, suspension shall apply to the import of edible pork and egg products originating in Germany.

2. Regarding Germany-made edible pork and egg products set off before January 11, 2011, test and inspection for dioxins shall be conducted on each batch of such products upon their arrival at China's ports; And only after they are tested as qualified, their entry may be permitted.
