The European Union to Extend Anti-Dumping Measures on Chinese Steel Ropes and Cables to Korea

On May 11, 2010, the European Commission issued an official Announcement. According to the Announcement, the European Union investigated and believed that the steel ropes and cables originating in China, passing through Korea and destined for Europe constitute circumvention through transit and assembly. Thus, apart from the steel ropes and cables produced by 11 Korean enterprises, the anti-dumping measures are to extend to Korea, and no measure is mentioned to conclude the anti-circumvention investigation towards Malaysia.

Since 1999, the European Union began to impose the anti-dumping duty of 60.4% on Chinese products of steel ropes and cables, and this original measure continued after review. On August 12, 2009, the European Union initiated an anti-circumvention investigation on the steel ropes and cables originating in China, passing through Korea and destined for Malaysia.
