Announcement of the General Administration of Customs of China No. 36, 2010

In accordance with the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of New Zealand (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement), China applies special safeguard measures to the agricultural products under 11 HS Codes originating in New Zealand.

On May 14, 2010, the General Administration of Customs of China released on its official website (www.customs.gov.cn) the import quantity of butter and other fats & oils derived from milk under the special safeguard measures, which was close to the trigger level this year. Up to June 12, 2010, the declared import quantity of such agricultural products has reached 10,463.9 tons, exceeding this year's trigger level for special safeguard measures 10,364 tons. Therefore, as of June 13, 2010, import tariff shall be levied on the foregoing imports originating in New Zealand under the Agreement at the most-favored-nation tariff rate. And the applicable tariff rate and other relevant issues concerning the agricultural products in transit shall be implemented in accordance with provisions in the Announcement of the General Administration of Customs of China No. 91, 2008.
