Russia FAS Agreed to Remove Import Tariff on Coke

[2010-06-12 08:52:12]

On June 8, 2010, director general of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS) announced at a press conference that FAS agreed to remove the import tariff of 5% on coke, considering the possible shortage in domestic coal supply due to the accident in Kuzbass coal mine in May 2010.

The forgoing coal mine can ensure 10% of the coal supply in Russia. The short supply may lead to rise in prices of domestic coke and metal products.

Previously, this move has won support from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
