Russia to Lower Fur Import Duties

According to a website of Russian economy and life on December 12, 2011, Russia should lower by 50% import duties on tanned or processed furs after joining the WTO till 2014. The duties on finished fur products will be changed to ad valorem tariffs, cut down by 50% in 2015.

As per existing documents on Russian obligations for WTO access, current 10% import duties on tanned/processed furs will be reduced to 5% in 2014 and should be set to 7.5% in 2013.

Import duties on fur coats and other fur products, which now belong to compound duties generally at 10% but no less than EUR 30 for each, will change to ad valorem tariffs of 20% on the admission to the WTO, and will not decrease to 10% until 2015.
