Hulunbeier Export-Import Value Up Largely in First Half 2017

According to China Customs statistics, in the first half 2017, Hulunbeier City (containing Manzhouli City) had export and import value totaling RMB 10.77 billion yuan, up 27.5% YOY (year-on-year), accounting for 21.7% of Inner Mongolia Regional gross value. Therein, export value 2.62 billion yuan, up 20.7%, and import value 8.15 billion yuan, up 29.9%.

Export & Import Characteristics:
(1) Diversified in trade partners, Russia as the largest one;
In the first half year, Hulunbeier-based enterprises traded with a total of 78 countries and regions, in which trade with Russia reached 9.06 billion yuan, up 27.0% YOY, accounting for 84.1% of the total, as the largest amount.
Main export markets were Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The export to Russia reached 1.63 billion yuan, up 13.2%; export to Thailand 140 million yuan, down 6.2%; export to Vietnam 130 million yuan, up 2.2 times.
Main import markets were Russia and Mongolia. The import from Russia reached 7.42 billion yuan, up 30.5%; import from Mongolia 170 million yuan, up 41.2%.
(2) Major in petty frontier trade, and increased in border inhabitants’ imports;
In the first half year, Hulunbeier’s petty frontier trade totaled 8.23 billion yuan, up 26.5%, accounting for 76.4%; ordinary trade value reached 1.51 billion yuan, up 78.7%; tourist purchase-based exports totaled 580 million yuan, up 16.9%; border inhabitants’ imports totaled 70 million yuan, an increase of 32.5 times.
(3) Private enterprises dominated foreign trade, and foreign-invested enterprises increased imports.
In the first half year, the foreign trade by private enterprises totaled 10.41 billion yuan, up 26.5%, accounting for 96.7%; that of state-owned enterprises totaled 270 million yuan, up 30.5%, the import of foreign-invested enterprises reached 14.79 million yuan, up 2.3 times.
(4) Main exports were fruits/nuts, vegetables, life sci-tech products, and clothing.
In the first half year, Hulunbeier exported vegetables worth 560 million yuan, up 50.7%; fruits worth 200 million yuan, down 41.6%; Life sci-tech products worth 440 million yuan, up 48.0%; clothing worth 330 million yuan, up 16.7%; wood products worth 110 million yuan, up 2.4 times. Notably, agricultural products led the exports at 880 million yuan, up 20.2%; potato export worth 29.69 million yuan, up 2.1 times.
(5) Woods were the largest import, and lead ore/concentrate increased most.
In the first half year, Hulunbeier imported sawn timber worth 4.16 billion yuan, up 30.2%; logs worth 1.52 billion yuan, down 4.2%; paper pulp 600 million yuan, up 1.1 times; fertilizers 480 million yuan, up 6.0 times; imported refined oil 290 million yuan, up 78.4%. Notably, imported lead ore and concentrate were worth 260 million yuan, an increase of 12.5 times.
