Minister of Commerce Chen Deming Meets with Angolan Prime Minister Kassoma and H

On January 18, the visiting Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Deming paid a courtesy call on Angolan Prime Minister Antonio Paulo Kassoma in Luanda, Angola.
Chen Deming expressed that, in recent years, with the continuous development of China-Angola relations and ever closer bilateral trade and economic cooperation, Angola has become China’s largest trading partner in Africa, with the total bilateral trade volume of USD 25.3 billion in 2008. The package cooperation between the two sides goes smoothly, which effectively promotes the cooperation between the two sides in trade, energy, project contracting, etc. China is willing to make full use of the mechanisms such as Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and China-Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, continue to develop massively the bilateral economic and trade relations and further cement the cooperation between the two sides on agriculture, infrastructure, health, human resources, etc. so as to jointly respond to the challenges of financial crisis, and enhance the China-Angola friendly cooperation to a new level.
Prime Minister Kassoma spoke highly of the current China-Angola relations and expressed appreciation for the achievements made on the package of cooperation projects between the two sides. He said that Angola shall work with the Chinese side to continue to finalize the implementation of the 8 measures of the Beijing Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and actively support the upcoming 4th Ministerial Meeting of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 3rd session of the Ministerial Meeting of China-Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum to be held this year. He hopes to carry out even more extensive and closer cooperation with China in such fields as agricultural development, investment expansion, etc.
On the same day, Chen also held talks with the Angolan Minister of Finance, Jose Pedro de Morais, and Minister of Trade, Indalina Valente.
Chinese Ambassador to Angola, Zhang Bolun, and Angolan Ambassador to China, João Manuel Bernardo, were also present on the occasions.
