Official Cooperation Agreement Signed Between CCPIT and BCC

On Februrary 2, Chairman Wan Jifei met with Mr. , new chairman of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC). The two parties jointly signed the Cooperation Agreement Between CCPIT and BCC.
Chairman Wan Jifei and Chairman first had a short conversation, exchanging work respectively done by CCPIT and BCC to promote economic and trade cooperation between Chian and Britain and emphatically reviewing the series events held by CCPIT and BCC during the past year to assist Chinese enterprises to make investment in Britain and promote the China-Britain trade development. They agreed on establishing closer cooperation between CCPIT and BCC on promoting trade and investment, devleopment of western regions, reconstruction after disasters and information exchange.
According to the cooperation agreement, CCPIT and BCC will strengthen strategic and practical cooperation in the fields of information, exhibition, law and arbitration, etc to promote the development of China-Britain economic and trade relations and to support business circles of the two countries to deepen cooperaion on the basis of equaliy and mutual benefit.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is one of the most influential national business organizations in Britain and the speaker of Britain’s SMEs. In the year of 2008, CCPIT succesfully carried out a series of cooperation projects with BCC, including facilitating the visit of BCC’s senior delegation to China, BCC’s holding the British round of the Chinese Enterprises Outbound Investment Seminar and jointly holding the Chinese round of BCC annual conference.
With respect to the influence of CCPIT and BCC on each business circle and their successful cooperatino in the past year, both agreed on signing the official cooperation agreement. The signing of the cooperation agreement is an important economic and trade event during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit to Britain. After signing the agreement, BCC offcially launched the preparation of the British round of Chinese Enterprises Outbound Investment Seminar 2009 and would make the specific plan of the 2009 cooperation projects together with CCPIT.
Mr. Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Shadow Minister of State for International Development and UK Conservative Party MP , attended the meeting and signing ceremony as invited. Mr. Brown highly appreciated CCPIT and BCC’s efforts made to promoted economy and trade of China and Britain. He also said that the Conservative Party attached great importance to the work of BCC and would furthe improve the function of BCC if the Conservative Party wins in the future general election and then presented specific introduction to the measures of improving BCC’s function.
Deputy Director Han Meiqing of CCPIT Internationa Relations Department and Chief Representative Guo Ying of CCPIT Representative Office in Britain attened the meeting and signing ceremony.
