100 Million Yuan in Consumption Vouchers to be Distributed in Hangzhou

[2009-01-19 11:03:50]

Hangzhou announced on January 15 that its finance department would distribute 100 million yuan in consumption vouchers to 500,000 residents including households entitled to basic living allowances and needy families, retirees from enterprises and middle and primary school students.

Officials of Hangzhou said that the financial crisis and the economic downturn had the worst effect on residents with financial difficulties, disadvantaged groups and low-income groups. Distributing consumption vouchers to the people will help improve their living quality as well as promote consumption.

The municipal and the district finance departments equally shared the cost of the consumption vouchers. The distribution targets 500,000 people, including municipal-level and district-level households entitled to basic living allowances and needy families within the six districts, the retirees from enterprises receiving pensions managed by community service organizations, seniors in urban areas who are entitled to a living allowance, rural seniors who are entitled to pensions, and all the middle and primary school students in Hangzhou. The descendants of the New Hangzhou People who attend middle and primary schools within the six districts, are also covered by this distribution.

The consumption vouchers' amount of money distributed to school students is 100 yuan each, while the amount allocated for every resident (household) is 200 yuan each. The consumption vouchers can be used in designated places to buy goods and services related to such things as culture, fitness and tourism.
