China to Double Efforts in Promoting New Energy Construction
[2009-02-06 09:29:27]
China will accelerate steps to shut down small, technologically out-dated and high energy-consuming thermal power plants, coal mines and oil refineries, and accelerate the construction of large-scale energy infrastructures and major energy projects, an official from the National Energy Bureau said.
This year, China's total investment in power generation will reach 580 billion yuan, and the construction of nuclear and wind power plants will be significantly put forward.
According to plans, nuclear power plants including those in Sanmen of Zhejiang, Haiyang of Shandong and Taishan of Guangdong will start construction, with a newly approved 8.4 million-kilowatt capacity construction scale.
Additionally, starting this year, several 10 million-kilowatt-plus capacity wind power bases will be built in places including Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Hebei and Jiangsu over the course of the next 10 or so years.
Within the year, the construction of the coal-electricity integration project in Xilin Gol League and the coal-electricity generation project in Shanxi will also start, which will gradually generate a total power of 3 million kilowatts to Liaoning and 4 3 million to Shandong.
