Malaysian auto-maker Proton has introduced a special version of its Savvy budget car, with eight additional features.

The Savvy SE retails at Bt494,000, up Bt55,000 from the Bt439,000 Medium Line version. Only 100 units are being offered.

The car comes with "solid white" paint, aerodynamic body kit, flower design on upholstery, black roof and B-pillar, as well as six-spoke alloy wheels with 175/50 R15 tyres.

The interior features leather-wrapped steering wheel, graphic design on handbrake lever and extra-thick carpets.

The Savvy is powered by a 1,149cc four-cylinder SOHC 16-valve engine capable of producing 74 horsepower at 5,500rpm and 105Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. Both manual and automatic (with manual-shift mode) transmissions are available.

Acceleration from zero to 100kph takes 12.6 seconds and 14.4 seconds for the manual and automatic, respectively, while the car can achieve a top speed of 170kph.

Meanwhile, fuel economy is touted as 19 kilometres per litre.

The steering and suspension systems are developed with technology from British sports-car manufacturer Lotus, while brakes consist of an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution.
