Complete MDF plants for Russia and the Ukraine: Siempelkamp technology guarantees customers in Eastern Europe important market shares 06/10/2008 - 07:16 AM

Two recent contracts confirm the importance of Siempelkamp know-how for the Eastern European market. ZAO PDK Apsheronsk in South Russia and ART-PROGRESS in the Ukraine each ordered complete MDF plants and short cycle presses.

Operating with Siempelkamp equipment the MDF plant for the South Russian Apscheronsk will open up many opportunities for the region and the country. The scope of supply includes a forming and press line incorporating an 8’ x 55.3 m ContiRoll? press. Several companies from the Siempelkamp Group will help to create a complete plant. The power station is provided by Siempelkamp Energy Systems GmbH (SES). Buttner Gesellschaft fur Trocknungs- und Umwelttechnik mbH supplies the fiber flash tube dryer. The cooling and stacking line, the stack storage system and the sanding line are made by Siempelkamp Handling Systeme GmbH (SHS). The equipment is designed for a daily capacity of 1,000 m? which corresponds to a yearly capacity of 330,000 m?. The assembly of the plant is scheduled to begin in October of 2009; the first board is forecast for April of 2010.

This order was preceded by a design contract which was successfully executed by Sicoplan, Belgium. Two short cycle press lines, which were ordered at the same time, will expand the company’s product spectrum by processing the MDF for use as furniture boards and in laminate flooring.

The plant guarantees a significant market share for ZAO PDK Apsheronsk, not only in the region of Krasnodar but also in the entire Russian MDF market. “The signing of the contract marks a long anticipated start of an important project for us,“ Mr. Albert Aschikarjan, managing director of the company, explains. “Our region has the resources to supply the plant with raw materials. Furthermore, a new MDF plant will create many jobs and will secure these jobs for years to come.”

First MDF plant and short cycle press line for the Ukraine

Siempelkamp technology is also in demand in the Ukraine. ART-PROGRESS in Kiev ordered a forming and press line including a 9’ x 35.4 m ContiRoll? press, which is extendable to 40.4 m. This line will be part of the first MDF plant in the Ukraine.

ART-PROGRESS is new to the market governed by the wood industry. Just as ZAO PDK Apsheronsk the company relies on equipment from one single provider. The planning and engineering are carried out by Dr. E. Schnitzler Industrieplanung, the energy station and dryers are supplied by SES and Buttner. The contract volume also incorporates a cooling and stacking as well as a finishing line, a storage system, and a packing line ? all provided by Siempelkamp Handling Systeme GmbH (SHS).

Construction in Korosten is projected to start in June of 2009, the first board is forecast for February of 2010. By February of 2010 a daily capacity of 750 m? is anticipated in order to reach a yearly capacity of 250,000 m?.
