Courage Motivates

[Self-Improvement] Courage is often misunderstood. People think of courage only when someone has done something newsworthy-saving someone from a burning building, or snatching a child from an on-coming car. Courage is also the little things that one does in the course of reaching a goal or embarking on an adventure.

The Present Creates the Future

[Self-Improvement] Grounding yourself in the present is a matter of recognizing that your ability to influence all circumstances is limited to the actions you take in the immediate moment. Thus, focusing on the actions you can take right now will bring about the future events you want to create.

Power Brokers

[News-and-Society] The economy is controlled by Power Brokers - business people, who influence decisions in exchange for political or financial benefits. Power Brokers negotiate deals on a national and international scale to meet their aims. They can play both sides and influence decisions to the highest bidder. These brokers wield great influence over people who are uninformed as to the Power Brokers' intent and purpose. The uninformed believe that Power Brokers have the populaces' best interest in mind. Hence, Power Brokers maintain their influence by seemingly providing information as a 'heads-up' strategy.

Signs of Physical-Sexual Child Abuse in Adults

[Self-Improvement] All too often psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists and medical doctors miss the obvious signs of adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Furthermore, medical and psychiatric professionals treat symptoms and ignore the root cause of the problem. In order to heal it is imperative that the root cause is identified and healed. Healing the emotional wounds of physical or sexual abuse is possible. Talk therapy and/or antidepressents are inadequate to uncover the emotional pain, and heal the trauma trapped in muscles and tissue.

Appropriate Suspicion has five levels of suspicion and strategies for prevention.

[News-and-Society] The promotional material for the Sex Offender locator system states, "Keeping your child safe and secure is a priority for all parents. We make it easy. We all want the Peace of Mind that comes from knowing we are well informed of our environment and who might be living amongst us nearby!"

Loving From the Heart

[Self-Improvement] True and honest love emanates from the heart chakra - a.k.a. heart center. The heart chakra is also where other virtuous emotions emanate, such as joy, happiness, honesty, respect, compassion, understanding, and generosity, and with loving oneself in a sincere, non-egotistic way.

Nature's Course

[Self-Improvement] You might see things about yourself, your relationships and your world that you want to change. Often, this desire leads you to take action toward your inner work that you need to do or toward some external goal. Sometimes, without a momentous shift, you become aware that you have made a change seemingly without any effort.

Truth - The Cornerstone of Healthy Relationships

[Relationships] 'Truth Will Set You Free," (John 8:31-32), a commonly used phrase, many people consider one of the great laws of life. It is ironic then that few people practice its doctrine totally. In order to be set free one needs to reveal one's truth. Unfortunately, many people perceive they are exposed, vulnerable and in a weakened state if they reveal their truth.

Life is a Journey - Not a Destination

[Self-Improvement] Life is a journey, not a destination is a phrase that has become popular. Have you pondered the true meaning of this statement? If you have, you no doubt, recognize that, life is a journey with many steps on your unique personal journey that takes you down a winding and sometimes bumpy road of constant evolution.

Healthy Emotional Patterns - Create Them

[Self-Improvement] You might notice that you are irritable albeit seemingly because someone did or said something that crossed an invisible line or ruffled your sensibilities. Thus, you have experienced the phenomenon of a former emotional pattern being triggered.

Beyond Indoctrinations and Adaptations

[Self-Improvement] If you look beyond what you have been taught by family, religion, education, society, culture, you can attain a broader perspective about, who you truly are. Looking beyond is a process of connecting to your feelings to stretch your horizons. This process is part of the hero's journey and is what you came here to do.

Self-Empowerment - Stay in the Moment

[Self-Improvement] Remember only this moment is real-all possible future moments is speculation. There are many factors over which you have little control. It is nearly impossible to determine what could transpire in any given situation, and the more you recognize this, the easier it becomes to accept the unknown and roll with the punches.

US Elects Multiracial President

[News-and-Society] During the recent U.S. presidential campaign, the 'talking heads' referred to Barack Obama as possibly the first black president. This puzzles and outrages me. Why? Because calling Barack Obama black is denouncing his Caucasian ancestry. This is racial discrimination of a different kind, but none-the-less racial discrimination.

Law of Attraction - Answers to Life's Questions Lie Within

[Self-Improvement:Attraction] When you realize you have access to the part of you that is part of the whole-the universal knowledge a.k.a collective unconscious-you will realize all you need to do is allow you inner compass to direct you. Then you can stop searching outside yourself for the answers you seek. If you listen from within, trust and embrace the wisdom that lives within you, you will be able to navigate your life confidently.

Perfectly Imperfect

[Self-Improvement] When you realize you are perfectly imperfect as everyone else, it will be easier for you to accept and feel comfortable in your own skin. That is not to say that self-improvement is unnecessary, quite the opposite. The soul's sole purpose for being on this earth plane is for emotional and spiritual growth.

Abundance - Create It - From the Inside Out

[Self-Improvement] Humans seek to feel complete and whole-the crux of the matter is how. Accumulating more helps you feel full, complete or whole, but, it is only temporary. Once you recognize that it is only a temporary feeling you will become more aware that you have the power to make conscious and beneficial choices to enhance your life from the inside out.

Feelings - Expression Creates Better Communication

[Self-Improvement] When others know how you feel it gives them an opportunity to modify their behavior. Expressing your feelings also gives you a sense of control over your response to their comments. People say things in the style they have become accustomed, not realizing it could be offensive to anyone, unless, they are told in an open, honest, direct manner.

Respect - A Valuable Asset

[Self-Improvement] With your integrity in place you can be more open-minded in your professional or personal interactions. [Self-Improvement] While you might perceive your breath as only a means of providing your body with oxygen, there is another seldom acknowledged purpose. Your breath is also a powerful tool that can be used to become more cognizant (breathing consciously) of what you are doing.

Magic Mirror on the Wall--Who...?

[Self-Improvement] When things go awry as they sometimes will, you might point at someone or something and cry foul. Rest - Guilt Free

[Self-Improvement] Many people believe that if one needs to rest, it is wasting time, as they do not recognize the benefits of working in a relaxed, focused and high energy mode. Research reveals we reap great rewards when we devote some part of our day to activities that allow us to unwind and compose ourselves after periods of intense effort. We discover that when we enjoy resting with no guilt we can focus more intently on the objectives we have before us.

Intuition - Heed It

[Self-Improvement] If you listen to your intuition closely, you will notice that you do not need to pour over decisions in great detail in order to do what seems natural and unplanned. If you need to make a choice, take a few minutes to ask yourself the question: "Is this the right thing to do?"

Life's Purpose - Tune In

[Self-Improvement:Happiness] The need to delve more deeply into yourself and reflect on your life is important for your well-being and peace of mind. [News-and-Society] According to Finkelhor (Finkelhor, 1984; Araji and Finkelhor, 1985) there are four components that contribute, in differing degrees and forms, to development of a child molester's behavior. To explain the diversity of behavior of sexual abusers, there are four factors in a complementary process. These four factors are sexual arousal, emotional congruence, blockage, and disinhibition:

Emotional Malnutrition-Warning Signs

[Self-Improvement] Humans need-physical, emotional and spiritual-nourishment to thrive. The majority of people need healing in all three. When humans are emotionally malnourished-a.k.a. unmet self-esteem needs, they do things to compensate. The majority of people have emotional malnutrition, but few are conscious of this seemingly innocuous deprivation.

Self-Esteem - Foundation For Self-Trust

[Self-Improvement] Creating self-esteem to push beyond ones comfort zone ensures that when you face demanding situations, you will have the courage, strength and determination to follow through. [Self-Improvement] Your life is comprised of everything you do-showering, brushing your teeth and sleeping, with everything in between. [Self-Improvement] Remember we are all here as teachers and likewise students. You can make it easier for yourself and others when you ask for assistance. When you ask someone for assistance, not only are you learning he/she is learning too.

Life is a Challenge

[Self-Improvement] "Life is difficult," were the first words in the first chapter of "The Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck. I would have preferred Peck wrote "Life is a challenge," because the word, 'difficult,' sets up a mind-set that implies it could be insurmountable. However, the word, 'challenge,' stirs our motivation to a greater height and 'challenges' us to succeed.

Past Life Regression - The Benefits II

[Self-Improvement] The purpose of experiencing a past life is to learn what has prompted you to make the choices you have made and heal the emotional distress which creates havoc. The most powerful gift of experiencing a past life is healing past emotional traumas to help one to make good choices in the current life.

Determination and Perseverance - Keys to Success

[Self-Improvement] When you are intensely determined to reach your goals, regardless of the obstacles you encounter, you will muster the persistence and perseverance to carry you through. It is the lack of determination and persistence to succeed that creates lack of goal achievement. Your determination and ambition will give you a well from which to draw strength as you face challenges and obstacles that could derail your progress.

Let Your Light Shine

[Self-Improvement] See yourself as a lighthouse, whereby you continue to shine through the darkness, offering your light to help others find their way back to their own light. You can send a silent prayer of peace or a sympathetic smile. You may sense that reaching out to offer a comforting touch or hug can ease their tension and their clouds might lift.

[Self-Improvement] While you may be tempted to abort your plans and come up with new ones, you might want to work on building up your belief in yourself and your objectives. The more you believe in yourself and your ability to succeed against all odds, the less shaken you will be by challenges.

Empathy - Key To Compassion

[Self-Improvement] When you connect to the universality of humanity in everyone, you generate a greater ability to empathize with others. By connecting with the human details in others and visualizing their life as the same as yours helps you to understand that we are all one.

Confidence - Let Yourself Shine

[Self-Improvement] When you hold up a detailed mirror to your life and weigh yourself against your ideal image of yourself, you might not be able to see the things that make you truly unique. Giving yourself permission to appreciate all the universe has given you, however, will prompt you to feel more secure about yourself and more able to use your gifts and talents to their fullest.

Responsibilities - Pleasing Others or Obligation

[Self-Improvement] When you feel obligations to others simply to bolster your own desire to feel responsible, you may be inclined to neglect your own needs. It is important to remember that maturity comes from understanding your own needs first. By gaining insight into the true nature of your responsibilities, you will determine the obligations that are the most essential for you in the now.

Feelings - Acknowledge Them

[Self-Improvement] The complexity of your thoughts and feelings might prompt you to feel frustrated. It might seem like your thoughts and feelings are at odds with each other and that understanding them, may seem overwhelming or impossible. It is best then to focus on being at ease with and accepting everything that arises. As a feeling occurs, take a minute to verbally acknowledge it. When you name the feeling, take time to be with it.

Aha Moments - Scientific Evidence

[Self-Improvement] Being able to see challenging situations from a different perspective will open your mind to new possibilities and solutions. If you lift your focus higher and choose a different perspective, you can gain a greater sense of clarity about your circumstances.

Love - Choose It

[Relationships:Love] Every action we take is based in love or fear, not just those dealing with relationships. Positive Attitude - Ten Tips

[Self-Improvement:Positive-Attitude] Integrating a spirit of joy and enthusiasm (positive attitude) in your actions leads to creative power in your goal achievement. Choosing to bring forth thoughts of joy and enthusiasm will compel you to feel lighter, and you become more inspired to give your best effort to your goals.

Corporal Punishment - Proposed Legislation

[News-and-Society] If this proposal does become law and parents are caught hitting their children who are under the age of 18, they could be charged with abuse or neglect. Hotly debated, lawmakers in Massachusetts are set to make a proposed ban legal on all corporal punishment of children, including in the home setting. State Rep. Jay Kaufman filed the spanking ban petition at the request of an Arlington, Mass., nurse who wants Massachusetts to become the first state in the country to stop corporal punishment, including in the home setting.

Corporal Punishment - Ban Proposed

[News-and-Society] U.S. laws and cultural values are unambiguous concerning adults who physically hit or verbally threaten adults. The term role model was introduced by Robert K. Merton, a distinguished American sociologist best known for having coined the phrase "self-fulfilling prophecy."

Before 'What The Bleep Do We Know?' - Before 'The Secret'

[Self-Improvement] It is foolish to think that our understanding of the Universe was completed in 1938 when physicists Otto Han and Fritz Strassman split the atom in Germany - first generating fission-released energy. Likewise, it is foolish to think that the Universe is comprised of only that which we can see, touch, smell or quantify. Thus, 'The Secret,' was a viable concept since the beginning.

These archetypes present themselves in varying degrees. You might have a lot of courage, others might be less courageous to the point they are unable to stand up for themselves, even when necessary. There are many reasons for this. Ones parents might have been overly critical and therefore, one learns to repress their courage.
