Shanghai, December 15 (Gasgoo.com) China's six auto groups have pledged to join hands in promoting their own-brand vehicle models at the 2009 Shanghai auto show in April, said auto.163.com today. The six auto companies are SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, GAC (Guangzhou Auto) and Beiqi (Beijing Auto).

As the global financial crisis continues to push down their sales, automakers in China are seeking ways to maintain their growth and operations. As many troubled global auto giants may be absent from the auto show in Shanghai next year, China's auto groups can take this opportunity to showcase their self-developed brands and models:

SAIC will display its NMS mid-size car. Shanghai VW said that the New Midsize Sedan (NMZ) is an all-new mid-size model based on the Passat B6. Along with the Chinese-made Skoda Superb and Passat Lingyu, it will cater to different demands in the China market. Shanghai VW will make the NMZ soon.

FAW is set to showcase Besturn B50. This new model is also called "Small Besturn" but is almost of the same size with Besturn B70 by measuring 4,600mm x 1,785mm x 1,435mm. The Besturn B50, B70 and Mazda 6 share the same platform and their wheelbase is 2,675mm to ensure roomy internal space.

Dongfeng Motor will promote its own-brand "Fengshen" model, which suggests Dongfeng Nissan venture's previous name and can boost this model's market recognition. Changan Auto will unveil its newly-developed hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).

Guangzhou Auto will launch another new model after its A-HEV, four-door Coupe and convertible model, and Beijing Auto will restore the time-honored "Beijing brand" to its former glory.
