14-02-2008 Stingray wins design award

A new veneer version of the Stingray rocking chair was awarded “best product” at the Cologne fair.

Ever since Thomas Pedersen designed the Stingray rocking chair in plastic in 2002, he has been toying with the idea of making this curved chair in veneer, efforts that have now succeeded. Fredericia Furniture presented the results at the international furniture fair in Cologne, Germany, in makassar wood and in an upholstered model. The jury for the design award "Interior Innovation Award Cologne" was so enthusiastic about the new Stingray model that they named the chair "best product". The thick (10 mm) wooden shell comprises one piece of 3D veneer formed in the world’s largest shape-moulding machine.
