Skagerak Denmark won this year’s Formland Prize for its beach chair Lean.

 

Skagerak Denmark won this year’s Formland Prize for its beach chair Lean. The prize was presented by Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen, director of the Kolding School of Design, in connection with the opening of the Formland Fair at Herning Exhibition Centre.

 

"Lean manifests an elegant coherence between shape and functionality. The well-conceived, sculptural beach chair adds a new dimension to living the good life outdoors. The designer has superbly interpreted a popular classic – using a fine blend of material processing and aesthetic style," according to the jury who emphasised design, innovation, functionality and price in making their assessment. Lean was designed by Hans Sandgren Jakobsen.
