Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials has developed original technology to massively separate in high purity simultaneously for the carbon nano-tube in metal and semiconductor ingredient that has long been a difficult task in the carbon nano-tube for the first time in history. This technology has the strength to minimize the losses while being separated for metal and semiconductor with the possible high purity separation of 90% or more consecutively compared to the existing technology, and in addition, it has the advantageous structure to easily enlarge. The responsible person of research indicates that it is possible to develop the massive separation technology for the level to use in all industrial fields within three years when looking into the current technology development.

The metallic carbon nano-tube may remarkably improve the capabilities of touch screen that uses the carbon nano-tube, conductive transparent film for flexible display and LCD, conductive integrated material, heater, X-ray material, field emission display, semiconductor cable, battery electro-pole and others, and the semiconductor carbon nano-tube is expected to advance the commercialization of entire industrial fields related to semiconductor memory element, electronic element, nano-radio, hydrogen storage, far infrared element, various nano-sensor and others related to the carbon nano-tube.
