| LG Electronics announced on November 7 to suspend the discussion with Conergy Group of Germany for establishing joint venture firm for solar battery. LG Electronics has entered into the MOU with Conergy Group, a company specializes in solar energy, in September this year and negotiated for establishing a joint venture company for solar battery, but both parties showed the differences that could not be overcome. An official at LG Electronics said that, "the global financial market displayed unstable status and it was deemed as not desirable to continue with the talks for establishing the joint venture company at this point of time." This official further said that, "notwithstanding the fact of suspending the negotiation talk with Conergy Group, LG Electronics still aims at growing into a global solar battery company, and it will continue to review a variety of strategic options, such as, direct investment, M&A, strategic alliance and others." |
