On Oct. 14 at the opening ceremony of 'the Korea Electronics Show 2008,' Lee, Sang Wan, head of Samsung's LCD commented on the rumor of the company's LCD panel production reduction for the first time, noting that the company was controlling the operation ratio of its production lines within 5% of the total production.
Due to the international recession, LGD, AUO, CMO, CPT and other major LCD panel makers had already reduced their production by about 10%. However, Samsung has been denying the reduction of the company's production. Lee stressed that this reduction was only pacing its production dynamically based on seasonal factors and market conditions, not a 'deliberate reduction,' and expected that in December, additional adjustments would be determined and the investment in the next year would be reduced compared to that of this year. |
