The EU to Raise Anti-Dumping Duties on Aluminum Wheel Hubs from China

[2010-11-09 15:33:56]

According to a report on September 15, 2010 from the Wall Street Journal, European special trade commission voted on the proposal of extending the anti-dumping duties. The anti-dumping duties were implemented since May 2010, and the proposal intends to raise the duty rate to 22.3% from 20.6%.

As per people familiar with the idea of the commission, the proposal may be passed by the commission, but it only takes effects when each government of the European Union (EU) formally grants the approval.

The new round of tariff sanctions may start a trade war of automobiles between the EU and China, given that China’s booming automobile market has become a major source of the profits for European automobile manufacturers, this trade war may hurt such European automobile manufacturers like Daimler and Volkswagen.
