Anti-mining protestors in the Philippines are blockading Australian owned company Oxiana Philippines, which is preparing to prospect a new site.

Nearby New Zealand operation Oceana gold and copper mine has already come up against opposition from environmental groups and the local Catholic church, despite a court order for them to clear the area, according to Philippine newspaper reports.

Oxiana is currently constructing the Prominent Hill copper-gold mine in South Australia and is undertaking a feasibility study for the Martabe gold project in Indonesia.
