Hiab has launched a new 80tm loader, the XS 855, fitting between the XS 800 and XS 1055 at the top of the company's high capacity range.
The new crane offers slightly more power than the XS 800, with the same reach as the XS 1055. Sergio Peirò, Hiab's product manager for high capacity cranes, said that, compared to the XS 800, "The XS 855 increases speed by over 30% and lifts productivity by over 20%."
With a ten section E-10 HiPro boom, the XS 855 can lift 2,040kg to its maximum reach of 23.8m, or 2,540kg to 19.6m. The eight section E-8 HiPro can reach to 19.4m, where it can lift 2,900kg. Within 4m of the crane, all four suggested boom configurations (EP-6, E-6, E-8 and E-10) can lift 18,000kg.
With a jib attached, and one manual extension, the XS 855 can lift 1,280kg to 26.4m using a six section boom, and 760kg to 30.5m using the eight section boom.
While the outreach of the new 80tm XS 855 is higher than the 77tm XS 855, the installation height of the new crane is less. Configured with an E-8 boom and 145X-5 jib, the XS 855 has a maximum outreach of 29.2m but an installation height of 2,690mm. The XS 800, by comparison, can reach 26.9m (about 2m less) with a seven section boom and 135X-4 jib, but requires an installation height of 2,909mm (about 200mm more)
Peirò said, "One of the reasons we developed the HIAB XS 855 was that we heard from customers operating the 1055, our biggest model, that they were also looking for a version that delivered the same performance but with less installation height and longer outreach than the HIAB XS 800. We have met those requests by developing and now delivering the new 855."
The new cranes will be available from mid-December.
