Two Terex Demag CC 2800-1 Cranes Work in Tandem Lift Operation (2008-10-20)
[2008-12-23 17:06:35]
The German crane rental company Franz Bracht Kranvermietung expands its plant construction and wind power station assembly capabilities with a new Terex Demag CC2800-1. Its first mission was to unload a 450-ton transformer for an Enercon wind energy plant from a barge by working together with an Enercon-owned Terex Demag CC2800-1 in a tandem lift operation.
The tandem lift operation in Krefeld carried out by the two 600-ton machines was the result of the joint work of Franz Bracht Kranvermietung and ENERCON GmbH based in Aurich, Germany. Franz Bracht Kranvermietung had received its Terex Demag CC 2800-1 in July 2008, while ENERCON received its crane in April of the same year. The job: Unloading a transformer with a net weight of 450 tons from a barge and loading it onto a railroad car for further transportation to the Neurath power plant. The gross load involved (including the corresponding lifting gear) was 494 tons, and the required reach was 24 meters. The crawler cranes were equipped with 42 m-long main booms. The superstructure was loaded with 160 tons, while the Superlift counterweight weighed 280 tons.
The Bracht company had special rigging-devices manufactured especially for this lifting operation. These devices consisted of spreaders and special cables that ensured that the load was distributed uniformly across 8 rigging points 每 this way, the load was kept perpendicular at all times. Thomas Spangemacher, Bracht's technical manager, had the following comments: "We used two Terex Demag CC2800-1s in order to achieve perfect timing 每 both models run in perfect synch 每 with things such as moving loads and cable winch speeds. Performing tandem lift operations with two cranes of the same series also has the advantage that the cranes exert an identical ground pressure onto the edge of the quay, all of which made everything much easier when it came to planning and carrying out this assignment."
Franz Bracht 100% Ready for New and Harder Assignments with its New Crawler Crane
The Bracht crawler crane was delivered with the following equipment: a 138 meter-long main boom with a 12 meter-long rigid luffing fly jib (LF), an 84 meter-long main boom, a 72 meter-long luffing jib, and a Superlift (SL) system. With this new machine, the company has further expanded its capabilities in the fields of plant construction and wind power. Thomas Spangemacher provided insight into the company's decision: "The Terex Demag CC2800-1 is the leading crane in its segment. You can ask about it in China or in India - the crane is known across the entire world. In our case, it also offered an optimum balance between performance and cost-effective transportation." The transportation units 每 except for the carrier - are only 3 m wide. The large selection of available transportation options makes it possible to easily adapt the crane to national and regional transportation regulations.
The Terex Demag CC 2800-1: Versatility Creates Flexibility
With its large number of possible configurations, the 2800-1 can be modified to work under a variety of operating conditions. The crawler track-mounted carrier is available in two different models: the standard version and a narrow-track version; the latter allowing the crane to move over 5 meter-wide roads. Delivery with a chassis designed for street travel is also possible. The basic machine, including all winches and the A-frame, can be transported within a 12 ton axle load limit. The flexibility associated with the use of this model can save both time and costs during transportation and setup.
The Terex Demag CC 2800-1 can be converted from a standard crane to a special wind power crane, and back, with only a few special components. These special components include a few extra-strong main boom connectors and a rigid luffing fly jib (LF2) with a length of 12 meters that was developed especially for wind power-related applications. These standard-oriented wind power combinations provide optimum lifting capacities and clearance with minimum transportation costs.
The narrow track kit makes it possible to easily retrofit the CC 2800-1 onto a narrow chassis. Front and rear outriggers are permanently joined onto the carrier in order to ensure an outstanding level of stability and optimized setup times. Further components include two support mats for the front and rear outriggers, two lateral outriggers with support mats that can be folded up, and Terex Demag control components (including remote control) that have proven their worth in the field.
The narrow track kit can be optionally used with 1.2 meter-wide track pads (smaller total width) or with 1.5 meter-wide track pads (reduced ground pressure).
