China Nov Steel Exports At 2.95 Mln Tons,Dn 28% On Yr

China exported 2.95 million metric tons of steel products in November, sharply lower than 4.62 million tons in October, preliminary data provided by the General Administration of Customs showed Wednesday.

This means November steel exports fell 43% on month and 28% on year.

Shipments in the January to November period also declined 3.1% on year to 56.06 million tons, the data showed.

Total imports of steel products for the January-to-November period fell 6.7% on year to 14.5 million tons, with November imports alone at 1.03 million tons.

China imported 32.52 million tons of iron ore in November, up from 30.62 million tons in October, but down from 35.46 million tons in November 2007.

Total imports for the January-to-November period rose 17.3% on year to 401.93 million tons, it said.

China is one of the biggest importers of iron ore in the world, sourcing most of its supplies from Australia, Brazil and India.
