Changes in the Australian Pavement Industry

Four significant changes in the flexible pavement industry have occurred recently. At the 13th AAPA Health, Safety and Environment Conference Jeff Richmond, President of Roadtec Inc and Astec ndustries announced that Astec have purchased Q-Pave Pty Ltd. Astec Australia Pty Ltd will retain the staff of Q-Pave and Paul Commins will continue to work with the company for a period of time. David Smale, ex Allen’s Asphalt has been appointed as General Manager. Colas have acquired 51% of the capital of SAMI Bitumen Technologies. SAMI Bitumen sells bitumen and bituminous bindersand is a member of AAPA. Colas’ other involvement in our region of the world includes part ownership of a bitumen refinery in Kernaman on Malaysia’s east coast. Fulton Hogan has purchased PMP Bitumen Pty Ltd in South Australia. PMP is involved in quarrying, asphalt, sprayed sealing and emulsion. The Australian Road Forum which is Australia’s peak body for road transport stakeholders is changing its name. From 27th August ARF will become Roads Australia.
