China will further improve the national standards of motorcycle helmets.

According to the news from the Expert Supervision Conference for national standards of motorcycle helmet which was recently held in Shanghai, China will further improve the national standards of motorcycle helmets, and to the production license system, clearly defined the security details such as that the openning devices of helmets must can be opened in 30 seconds. The performance standards of large displacement and high-end sport-type motorcycle helmets will be unchanged with the European standards.

Known from the conference, the production and use of China motorcycle helmets are the toppest in the world. The current national standards of helmets was enacted in 1998. The new version of the national standards is for two different types of helmets: to the civil or economic motorcycle helmets (under 125 cubic centimeters), use common standards; to high-end and sport-type motorcycle helmets (above 125 cubic centimeters displacement), performance standards of either rigidity, stability or monitoring all keep equal with Europe, even some of the parameters was higher than European standards.

Experts revealed that, the new national standards for motorcycle helmets would be carried out with domestic production license system. In the standards' content, it will give prominence to human nature and safety,  requiring that when the driver wearing a helmet lost consciousness, the opening device of helmet must can be opened in 30 seconds by other people; the dangerous parts of helmets must be painted to red and orange as a sign of warning, and when the driver was normally driving, the dangerous parts must not be opened casually, to protect the driver's life.

The related principal of Hehui Group which was the only enterprise to participate in the establishment of national standards of helmets said that the development of new national standards would promote the upgrading of related industries, encourage enterprises to carry out technical innovation, get their own intellectual property rights, and improve the passive export processing situation.
