Knives have traditionally been used
as weapons, tools, and eating utensils; it is only in recent times that
knives have been designed specifically for table use. Antique knife
collection is one of the most popular hobbies, collectors and dealers
have a range of knives used in different time periods.
Knives in the middle age were designed with sheaths attached to the belt and were quite narrow with pointed ends. It was later on that the design of the knife was changed by making the blunt ends of knife wider. Quite a few knives were designed with a handle-like pistol grip and blade.
