Wheat, Rice Up on Pick Up in Demand, Tight Stocks

Wheat and rice prices on Wednesday gained up to Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital on increased demand amid restricted arrivals
from producing regions.

Marketmen said restricted arrivals mainly pushed up wheat and rice prices.

Wheat dara (for mills) remained firm and moved up by Rs 2 to Rs 1,172-1,252 per quintal while wheat MP (deshi) ruled flat at Rs 1,610-1,850 per quintal.

Atta chakki and roller flour mills edged up by Rs 5 and Rs 10 at Rs 1,175-1,180 and Rs 660-670 per 50 kg respectively.

In the rice section, Pusa 1121 variety gained Rs 100 at Rs 3,800-4,500 per quintal.

In line with general trend, maize strengthened to Rs 840-880 from Rs 825-870 per quintal.

Following were today's quotations per quintal in Rs: Wheat MP (deshi) 1,610-1,850, wheat dara (for mills) 1,172-1,252, chakki atta (delivery) 1,175-1,180, atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 145, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 150, Roller flour mill 660-670 (50 kg), Maida 700-710 (50 kilos) and Sooji 700-710 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (lal quila) 9,200, Shri Lal Mahal 8,800, Super basmati rice 8,900, Basmati common 5,300-5,700, rice Pusa-1121 - 3,800-4,500, Permal raw 1,400-1,450, Permal wand 1,520-1580, Sela 1,900-1,960 and Rice IR-8 1,300-1,380, Bajra 790-805, Jowar yellow 790-820, white 1,250-1,300, Maize 840-880, Barley (UP) 1,010-1,065 and Rajasthan 1,110-1,120.
