Beijing Lifts Bird Flu Emergency Mechanism

Beijing has lifted its second level Emergency Mechanism on Bird Flu. The emergency mechanism has been imposed since a 19-year old woman died from the virus earlier this month.

Efforts have intensified to inspect poultry markets. A total of 200 people who were in close contact with the woman were released from a seven-day quarantine last week.

No new cases have been found in either poultry or humans.
