Huge Quality Change of Wenzhou Shoes

On January 14, 2009 CCTV broadcasted a special feature program on the topic of "a pairs of shoe and two burning shoes cases witnesses the quality change in China". On the program Xie Rongfang,the vice president of CLIA and Wenzhou Footwear and Leather Industry Association and Zheng Xiukang,Kangnai Group accepted the interview. Shoes made in Wenzhou City were used to be the representative of counterfeit and shoddy products,and now sold to all over the world,the quality change of Wenzhou shoes witnessed great improvement in Chinese products quality since 30 years of reform and opening up.
On the Production workshop of Kangnai Group the reporter saw workers were busy on making business shoes for British buyer,the president of Kangnai Group said twenty years ago not only to say for selling shoes to international markets,we are even hard to sell them in domestic markets. At the early stage of opening up and reform shoes made in Wenzhou suffered the credit crises in China because of their bad quality of shoes. In 1987 Zhejiang industrial and commercial department set a fire and burned more 5000 pairs of poor quality shoes on Wulinmen Square in Hangzhou City. It was a great shock to the industry and became a landmark for Wenzhou shoemaking industry to change the quality of their products.
