Eight New National Industrial Standards to be Released

Recently, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China and Standardization Administration of China approved eight new garment related national standards, both starting from August 1, 2009. Among all the standards, it is the first time for "Safety specifications for cords and drawstrings on children's clothing ", "Standard safety size for drawstrings on children's upper wear", "Code of practice for the design and manufacture of children's clothing to promote mechanical safety", "Washed garments", "Rule for work wear inspection" and "Qipao" to be released. They will play a guiding role in production and practices of the products respectively. The eight new garment related national standards provide important guidance to manufacturing and sales of local apparel industry, which will play an active role in the promotion and protection of domestic garment trade.
