NZ: Envy Apple Makes World Debut
[2009-06-17]
Fruit markets around the world this month are getting their first taste of ENZA International's new Envy apple.
The Envy -- a large, sweet red fruit -- is the latest apple from Enza's collaboration with Plant and Food Research New Zealand. It follows the successful release of the Jazz apple.
"Taste, size and the appearance of Envy will position it as a premium piece of fruit adding value to the apple category in supermarkets across Asia and North America in particular," said a company statement.
Currently produced commercially only in New Zealand, Envy trees are being trialled and planted across growing regions in the northern and southern hemispheres.
Enza-branded products are grown under licence by orchardists around the world.
