Chinese Clothing Sector Dominates Worldwide Trade

[2009-06-25]

China is a major player in the clothing market for decades. As a member of WTO, China’s sales have witnessed a dramatic increase. This is mainly due to the increased business from the west. When doing business with China, companies must consider their strengths and weaknesses. Practicing the same business strategy across all Chinese business partners is unlikely to work well.

Development of Industrial Clusters is very common in ZheJiang Province and thereby forming a complete production chain. Another new format is the Textile Industry Park. There are several of these kinds of parks near the cities of Nantong, Wuxi, and Changzhou.

Furthermore, China is not worried about the trade restrictions. Over the years, China's textile and clothing industries have become adept at dealing with different forms of trade restrictions in the global market through different strategies. This has forced them to develop ways to either avoid trade restriction or obtain more quotas.

The only biggest challenge for China's textile and clothing industries is the constant changes in the trading environment which make forecasting and long lead-time business harder.
