Introduction
Relying on the intellectual and human resources of Chongqing University, the Third Military Medical University and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the Chongqing University Science Park (CQUSP) was formally established in June 2001.
According to the master plan, the Science Park will comprise a core zone, a bio-medicine base and an extended zone. The Chongqing municipal government plans to invest about RMB 6.8 billion (USD 820 million) in the Park in the next ten years. Thus far, more than 70 enterprises, such as CQU High Technologies, Yuanshen Molecule Pharmaceutical, Chongqing Magnesium, Xinwang Intelligence and Lifan Electric Spraying Software, have joined the Park.
Established by the merging of Chongqing Architecture University and Chongqing College of Architecture, the current Chongqing University owns four State Key Subjects and one State Key Laboratory. Also, there are three Ministry Key Laboratories.
In total, there are three CAE (Chinese Academy of Engineering) fellows, 353 professors and 1,066 associate professors working in the University. Their academic fields cover economics, business administration, humanities and social sciences, arts, natural science and engineering. The total number of students stands at around 35,000, with 3,178 students pursuing doctorate degrees.
Chongqing University has now established academic exchange links with 74 overseas universities in USA, UK, Russia, Japan, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Italy, France, and so on. Meanwhile, cooperative relationships have been developed with major MNCs such as IBM, Microsoft, Omron, Rockwell, and Siemens.
