Children adore them for their sweetness ,8-10% BRIX level and small size, grownups love them for their unforgettable tomato feel in terms of colour- vibrant red, shape- perfect miniature elongated shape, texture-firm skin and flesh making it an ideal ingredient in many dishes and above all, for their taste with its perfect balance between acidity and sweetness.
Agrexco has long ago adopted an environmental strategy which provides its consumers with a produce that has been cultivated by professional growers holding a GLOBALGAP license. All of the organic growers comply, as well, with other stringent international or privately owned standards of all of the big retail chains both in Europe and in the U.S.A.
Cultivation process takes place in organic greenhouses where natural pollination by bumblebees is used. The cultivation process is constantly under observation and control and when necessary, natural enemies (insects and mites) are used for biological pest control.
Once the mini plum tomatoes are harvested, they reach their eager consumers by sea and not by planes, another important factor that attests for Agrexco's environmental concern. The voyage by sea will save hundreds tonnes of fuel, otherwise affecting the already distorted environment.
The environmental thinking does not stop with the produce itself. It encompasses its packaging as well, which are recycled and made of friendly materials The single mini plum tomatoes are mostly sold in bulks of 4kg each or as 6 units packed in brown carton, each unit weighing 250gr in a packaging made of PET or PLA, as well as sugar cane and other environment friendly packaging material.
Carmel "Bio Top" develops the cluster mini plums that are sold to the retail chains in "tailor made" packaging.
New products in Carmel's arsenal are mixed punnets with three varieties of tomatoes: yellow cherry tomatoes, round cherry tomatoes and mini plums, a feast of colours and tastes.
