Bridge guardrail got out of control for missing screws

A county road maintainer are reinforcing steel separation guardrail on both sides of the hundred meters bridge, as a result of more than 400 missing screws.
Reporters at the scene found the destroyed guardrail is supported by one screw between guardrails compared with the original 8 screws. It would not achieve the effect of safety, although with no difference from outside. Related official said: those guardrails are originally set on both sides of the bridge while the slope is sharp, accidents will surely happen without the guardrail. According to primary statistics, 400 screws are stolen with total 40 kg. One witness said few youths were steeling by the dark on 11th, Nov. in the evening, and run away soon before police arrived. It is reported those screws are stolen for reselling. In order not to be happened again, road management department had thought the use of glue on end of screws before the final decision, but it is not good for guardrail detaching in the future. Police said they will increase patrols to prevent such incidents from happening again.
