High-performance FRP Pultrusion Profiles Developed Successfully

 Recently the company successfully developed high-performance FRP pultrusion profiles using the principle of prestressing. The principle is that yarn is given a certain tension before fiberglass roving impregnates resin so that the fiber offset the stress in the matrix resin and the impact of resin contraction to fiber; and fiber is put into products uniformly, and the elongation rate of no-alkali glass fiber is 3 percent, while the elongation rate of general unsaturated polyester resins is 1.2% - 2.2%. It makes the breaking elongation of fiber and the breaking elongation of resin similar as far as possible by given a certain tension to the fiber, so that the stress of fiber is the biggest as possible when the FRP pultrusion profiles are stressed. By the testing of the No. 30  Supervision Control Centre of Tianjin Bureau of Quality and Technical, the mechanical properties of prestressed FRP pultrusion profiles have improved greatly than the non-prestressed ones, among the bending modulus increases 7.2 percent; bending strength increases 21.8 percent; tensile modulus increases 7.5%; tensile strength increases 18.4 percent. The dispersion coefficient of products performance decreases significantly. The necessary raw material costs decreases 6 percent to achieve the mechanical properties of original products, and now it need the raw material only of 0.94 ton while formerly it need 1 ton. The lamination interface observed by electron microscopy significantly improves.

The successful development of "high-performance prestressing FRP pultrusion profiles" will meet the high-end customers' requirements for products' quality so that it has more competitive power in the international market. The performance of FRP pultrusion profiles is better than the similar products of American, Canadian .
