    China:Foreign textile & apparel trade reaches $59bn

 

    China total import and exports value of foreign trade reached 645.03 billion dollars, increasing 23.2 percent compared with the same period of last year. Among them, export was 342.34 billion dollars, increasing 32.70 percent; while import was 302.69 billion dollars, increasing 14 percent. Trade surplus was 39.65 billion dollars.

    Reported by China Customs and the Statistic Center of China Textile Industry Council, through January-June, 2005, China total import and export value of textile and apparel reached 59.602 billion dollars, increasing 17.82 percent compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 9.24 percent of China gross import and export value of foreign trade.

    Gross export value of textile and apparel in China was up to 51.436 billion dollars, increasing 20.75 percent compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 15.02 percent of gross export value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile export was 20.47 billion dollars, increasing 22.97 percent compared with the same period of last year; and apparel export was 30.962 billion dollars, increasing 19.32 percent compared with the same period of last year.

    Gross import value of textile and apparel reached 8.166 billion dollars, increasing 2.20 percent compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 2.70 percent of gross import value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile import was 7.554 billion dollars, increasing 2.94 percent compared with the same period of last year; while apparel import was 0.612 billion dollars, down 6.14 percent compared with the same period of last year. Through January-June, favorable balance of textile and apparel trade reached 43.270 billion dollars. 

    Among main export countries and areas of textile and apparel, USA, Japan, and Hong Kong PR China became top three. Through January-June., China export to USA reached 8.746 billion dollars, increasing 71.64 percent compared with the same period of last year; export to Japan was 8.048 billion dollars, increasing 7.71 percent compared with the same period of last year; export to Hong Kong PR China. was up to 6.784 billion dollars, falling 15.20 percent compared with the same period of last year.

    Total value of export to the above three countries reached 23.578 billion dollars, taking up 45.84 percent of total export of textile and apparel. Export to EU reached 8.887 billion dollars, increasing 55.49 percent compared with the same period of last year.

    Export to the restricted countries reached 18.866 billion dollars, increasing 62.22 percent compared with the same period of last year. Export to non-restricted countries reached 32.571 billion dollars, increasing 5.17 percent compared with the same period of last year.

    Among the main import countries and areas, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea become top three. Through January-June, 2005, import textile and apparel from Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea was 1.610 billion dollars, 1.587 billion dollars, and 1.321 billion dollars, increasing 0.14 percent, down 2.90 percent, and up 5.00 percent separately.
