Shanghai Machine Tool Fair a Success (Tool-Moldmaking.com)

Eastpo 2008, the 10th Shanghai International Machine Tool Fair, which ran July 9?July 12 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, has been proclaimed a success by its organizer, the Eastpo International Expo Co. Ltd. The trade fair, one of the largest and most important of its kind in Asia, attracted 862 exhibitors and 81,542 visitors from 26 countries.



The visitor total was nearly 16% higher than that of the 2007 Eastpo.



During the four days of the show, exhibitors finalized purchases worth RMB 973 million on-site and reported another RMB 1.65 billion worth of purchasing intentions among visitors to their booths. The vast majority of exhibitors, asked about the number and quality of visitors and the publicity the show received, responded with ratings ranging from Satisfied to Very satisfied.



Around 45% of show attendees identified themselves as decision makers, and nearly that many others were advisers to purchasing decision makers. Visitors? reasons for attending broke down as follows: 17.65% were in Shanghai to make purchases, 23.17% to seek business opportunities, 19.32% to collect market information, and 22.58% to conduct research into available products, with the rest having other objectives.



Co-located with Eastpo this year was KOMAF 2008, featuring more than 70 Korean machine tool manufacturers brought to Shanghai by the Korean Association of the Machinery Industry.



Eastpo attracted wide attention and support from various leaders and dignitaries. These included Zhao Zongnai, former vice minister of the organization department of the CPC Central Committee, Yu Jianming, vice secretary-general of the Shanghai Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission, Dong Jin Won, consul from the Korean General Consulate in Shanghai, and Dong-Sup Yoon, executive vice chairman of the Korean Association of the Machinery Industry.
