Beijing, CNCotton: Some new phenomena regarding the textile trade were displayed at the 98th Chinese Export Commodities Fair, which is currently taking place in the absence of a Sino-US agreement to solve the textile trade between the nations.
First of all, the number of US textile merchandisers in the biannual event has dropped significantly. Even for Shanshan Enterprise, a big name in the Chinese textile industry, its general manager told local media that he had talked to only one US visitors in the first two show days, which was very different from past experience. And in view of that, Langsha, another big textile name in China, is turning its focus to the European market.
Secondly, on-site textile turnover was reported to be US$1,690 million, a drop of 8.22% from the same period in the 97th edition. Transactions with US buyers, in particular, amounted to US$290 million in value only, dropped by 33.17% compared with the 97th edition. But for transactions with European buyers, a sum of US$680 million meant a rise of 18.1% from the 96th session, despite being a drop of 3.58% from the 97th edition at the same time.
Thirdly, a rise of up to 20% to 30% in quotation price of textile products from the previous edition was recorded in the first show day.
