Zimmer to Build Polyester Plant in Thailand

Frankfurt am Main, October 9, 2001 — Zimmer AG, a company of mg technologies ag, has been awarded the order for the construction of a polyester plant by Thai Polyester Company Ltd. Commissioning of the plant to be located in Chonburi, 120 kilometers Southeast of Bangkok, is scheduled for the third quarter of 2003. The contract value is of around EUR 51 million. Thai Polyester Company Ltd. was founded by Jong Stit Co. Ltd. for the realization of this project.

The order is for a continuously operating polyester polycondensation plant to produce 140,000 tons per year of polymer. From this polymer, 87,500 t/y of preoriented yarns (POY) and 52,500 Vy of staple fibers can be produced which will mainly be processed by the Jong Stit Group. in addition to the technology, Zimmer also supplies the complete engineering and equipment. Moreover, the Frankfurt-based engineering company is also responsible for erection supervision and commissioning.
