Taiwan Government to Support Polyester Producers?

October 2001 — JTN's Asian Textile Weekly reported that the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan is studying ways to support polyester producers. Evidently this includes low interest loans for relocation and modernization, as well as regulatory changes that would give the industry more flexibility in reorganizing.

The JTN reports that the government also has plans for mergers and shifting polyester fiber business from apparel to other applications. The industry has also requested tax postponements and capital gain adjustments.
