Sales of North American Timber are Down in Guangdong Market

[2008-12-23 17:05:45]

North American wood species such as white oak, red oak, black walnut, and ash had been selling well in Guangdong timber markets since the first half year of 2007 until one month ago when the sales began to drop slightly. In the recent month, the sales volume has been 10%-30% less, but this fluctuation is taken as “normal” by local timber dealers and cannot profoundly influence the market of North American timber there. The going down of sales can be ascribed to the following points: 1) Intensive market competition; 2) some foreign forestry companies come to China directly to find clients, which, to some extent, affects the business of timber dealers.
