Beijing’s Foreign Trade Up to RMB 1.61 TRLN in Jan-Sept 2017

According to Beijing Customs statistics, in the first three quarters of this year, Beijing Municipality import-export value totaled RMB 1.61 trillion yuan, up 18.4% year-on-year (YOY): therein, import value 1.33 trillion yuan, up 19% YOY; export value 280.82 billion yuan, up 15.7% YOY.

This September alone, Beijing’s import-export value reached 182.37 billion yuan, up 8.2% YOY and up 2.9% over this August (MOM): therein, import value 151.56 billion yuan, up 8.9% YOY and up 6.4% MOM; export value 30.81 billion yuan, up 4.8% YOY and down 11.4% MOM.

In terms of trade mode, Beijing’s ordinary import and export reached 1.3 trillion yuan, up 19.4% YOY, accounting for 80.6% of the total foreign trade; foreign processing trade reached 179.43 billion yuan, up 12% YOY, accounting for 11.2%; imports and exports under Customs special control totaled 84.42 billion yuan, up 14.3% YOY.

In terms of trade partners, Beijing trade with the EU (28 countries) reached 212.12 billion yuan, up 10.5% YOY; trade with the United States reached 154.7 billion yuan, up 15.8% YOY; trade with ASEAN reached 127.5 billion yuan, up 37% YOY.

In terms of export commodities, electromechanical products from Beijing totaled 138.9 billion yuan, up 6.3% YOY; high-tech products totaled 55.26 billion yuan, up 5.1% YOY. Specifically, export of refined oil products reached 64.7 billion yuan, up 29.9%; textile apparel reached 14.13 billion yuan, up 27.9%; steel products reached 13.44 billion yuan, up 2.9%; mobile phones 10.57 billion yuan, down 12%; and ICs 9.79 billion yuan, up 5.7%.

In terms of import commodities, electromechanical products into Beijing reached 324.14 billion yuan, up 2% YOY; high-tech products 127.25 billion yuan, up 2.3% YOY. Specifically, import of crude oil reached 505.87 billion yuan, up 42.1%; automobiles 116.57 billion yuan, up 5.3%; agricultural products 82.29 billion yuan, up 17.2%; natural gas 70.95 billion yuan, up 41.6%; iron ore 57.23 billion yuan, up 75.9%.
