China’s Export-Import Value 2.36 Trillion Yuan in April, Up 7.2% YOY

On May 8, the General Administration of Customs released statistics data that, in April, China’s total export-import value was 2.36 trillion yuan, up 7.2% year-on-year (YOY); therein, export value 1.27 trillion yuan, up 3.7% YOY; import value 1.09 trillion yuan, up 11.6%; trade surplus 182.8 billion yuan, 27% less YOY.

In March, China’s export growth was declared -9.8%, the first negative growth since February 2017.

In the first four months of this year, China's foreign trade in goods totaled 9.11 trillion yuan, up 8.9% YOY. Therein, export value 4.81 trillion yuan, up 6.4%; import value 4.3 trillion yuan, up 11.7%; trade surplus 506.24 billion yuan, 24.1% less YOY.

In the first four months, China-USA trade totaled 1.24 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.9% YOY, accounting for 13.6% of China's foreign trade.

In the first four months, soybean imports to China decreased to 26.49 million tons, down 3.8% YOY, average import price at 2,723.8 yuan/ton, down 8% YOY.
